"I voted against this initiative report as I believe that the provision of social and employment legislation is a Member State competence unless there is a clear and justified reason for EU level action. Though I agree with the exchange of best practice, I do not see the added value in the legislative proposals that were recommended in this report. As of April 2015 the UK has implemented new reforms for a shared parental leave scheme and allows working couples to share untaken maternity leave and pay. Having this legislation decided on a national level allowed for an approach that is tailored to the UK labour market."@en1
