"I welcome this resolution’s call to integrate the economic, social and environmental pillars of sustainable development. Whenever these perspectives are separated and there are policy inconsistencies and incoherence, it is the most vulnerable who suffer.
International efforts to develop better indicators and data collection tools are key to progress and to improve decision-making. It is only when we have gender-sensitive data that we can truly see the scale of gender inequalities, and take action to close gaps.
It is disappointing that among the 169 different SDG targets, only five address youth and young people. Sustainability is all about the future, and handing over a better world to the next generation, to the youth. Decision-makers and elected representatives, including myself, must work together with youth organisations and civil society in order to ensure that young people are firmly at the centre of international sustainable development strategy and the implementation of the SDGs."@en1
