"I voted in favour of the proposal for country-by-country reporting. If we are ever to tackle tax dodging it is vital that we make companies report exactly where they make their money and where they pay their taxes. The Commission’s proposal is a step in the right direction, although it still does not go far enough: many more companies should be required to submit these reports and the reports should be made public. Only then will we have true tax transparency. While Labour MEPs have consistently voted in favour of increased transparency, it is lamentable that Conservative MEPs have talked a good game but when it comes to the crunch have consistently voted against any attempts to shine more light on the murky world of tax avoidance and evasion."@en1
