However, I have to again call on the Commission and the Irish Government to take into account the impact these requirements have on jurisdictions such as the island of Ireland, where beef reared on one part of the island and slaughtered on the other is unfairly labelled ‘mixed-origin’ and subject to discrimination on shop shelves. Flexibility for these regions and the option to have voluntary labels are vital."@en1
