"Manufacturing industries across Europe and in the UK, like the steel and ceramic sectors, are open to unfair competition from goods being sold at under their production value, and being dumped onto the European market. European action is needed in order to protect these industries. European institutions have done their part and now governments must act, for the sake of all European citizens, including my own constituents in the UK.
As a supporter of the Alternative Trade Mandate, I have advocated that global trade must put people and the planet ahead of profit. As the EU moves to reform its trade policy, and engage with international players, it is indeed better placed than any other international player to achieve that goal. My colleagues and I will continue to work towards an EU policy of truly fair and sustainable trade."@en1
