"I voted in favour of this legislative motion. The original Council Regulation to protect European markets from dumped products has been substantially amended and reworded, to ensure maximum clarity and understanding, as well as ease of reference. It needed to be streamlined and given increased clarity which I feel that this has achieved. The recent scandal over the potential dumping of Chinese steel in the European market showed how important these rules are. By streamlining them we improve our trade defences to make sure that European manufacturers are not unfairly undercut by their competitors. The legislative report also added clarity to the guidance on definitions within the text; in the fight to protect European, and by extension the British market from unfairly subsidised manufacturing this kind of clarity is vital. The recent case of Tata Steel proves that the European market needs to be defended against dumped products from outside of the European Union. I feel that in this vote we took the correct course to achieve that."@en1
