"I supported the resolution granting the Director of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions discharge in respect of the Foundation’s 2014 budget. The final budget of the Foundation for the year 2014 was EUR 20 774 000 representing an increase of 0.73% compared to 2013. I note the high level of committed appropriations carried over to 2015 at 53.7% for Title III (operational expenditure) although these carry-overs related mainly to multi-annual projects, whose activities were implemented and payments were made on schedule.
I am pleased that, although not concluded in 2014, negotiations between the Foundation and the host Member State, Ireland, on a seat agreement were concluded last year which should promote transparency regarding the conditions under which the Foundation and its staff operate. As a member of the Employment Committee I would also reiterate the resolution’s appreciation for the three European surveys and the wider research provided by the Foundation, its contribution to assessing the impact of the crisis on working and living conditions and its key importance for ensuring evidence-based discussions on social and work-related policies, youth unemployment and social cohesion."@en1
