"Whilst there are many parts of the European Union that completely fail to function, the Ombudsman does in particular provide some assistance to citizens. Whilst we in UKIP cannot vote in favour of such a report (and indeed, the report abstains from criticism of the European Union), it would be wrong for us to vote against the one part of the European Union establishment which is prepared to make appropriate criticism of the European Union budget. An abstention therefore appears to be appropriate on both the discharge and the report.
I note that the European Parliament once again voted to keep a single seat and to remove the Strasbourg sitting. Naturally, these votes have no actual effect: the Parliament is indeed so toothless that it does not even have the power to decide where it sits."@en1
