"Mr President, I found this discussion fascinating, and arising from it I have just a few questions which the Commissioner may be able to answer, or at least we will get answers in due course. Firstly, what is the likelihood of public acceptability for autonomous vehicles on the roads, especially in the transitional period, when there may be very few initially and then more and more in due course? Secondly, liability in the event of an accident has been mentioned: is it the passenger’s or the owner’s, who may not be a passenger at that particular time? I think that is a very important question which will have to be looked at. We also have the whole question of costs. Is there any idea about how much these vehicles are likely to cost? Will costs be more or less than the vehicles we have now? And, of course, there is the crucial question arising out of COP21 and climate change: will it lead to more or less emissions? That is hugely important."@en1
