In the context of the Sustainable Development Goals signed last year at the UN, the world has put forward an ambitious development agenda for the next 15 years with the intention of eliminating poverty and ensuring that no-one gets left behind. However, there is a gap between the amount of money that is needed in order to make this agenda a success and the amount that the public sector is able to give in the form of development aid. The private sector can and should play a greater role in development in order to help bridge the gap between national development aid and the needs of developing countries. The involvement must be well regulated and ensure that poverty reduction is the main goal of private companies when involved in development."@en1
