lpv:spoken text	"This report deals with the process of Turkey’s accession to the EU. It highlights many of the problems Turkey faces, including human rights abuses, democratic rights and the ongoing mistreatment of refugees. I supported a number of amendments, including those calling for better treatment of refugees, and the removal of the PKK from the terror list as a necessary step towards peace between Turkey and the Kurds. However, the report welcomes the inclusion of Turkey on the list of so-called ‘safe countries of origin’ for refugees. Despite the many problems Turkey faces, and without a resolution of the matter of Cyprus, the report is still supportive of further steps towards Turkey’s accession to the EU. I therefore abstained on the report."@en1
