"Madam President, security is one of the key arguments for the United Kingdom to remain in the EU. Following the attacks in Brussels, it is even more evident that we need measures, and we need to work together to ensure that information-sharing between European countries operates properly. We need to give intelligence agencies the tools to track terrorists. By voting in favour of the PNR Directive, Labour MEPs proved wrong those on the right and the Eurosceptics, who had been misleading the public with a smear campaign claiming we had been blocking progress on this. Today we voted for a directive that allows us to gather and share flight data of potential perpetrators of terrorist attacks between all the EU countries, while making sure people’s privacy is protected through a strong directive protecting personal data. Today the EU made us stronger in the fight against terrorism, while ensuring that people’s privacy is protected."@en1
