"Madam President, the question over Turkey highlights precisely how far the European Union will go in the name of its neo-colonialist ambitions. For all the posturing over your defence of democracy, human rights and the freedom of press around the world, you have hugely contradicted yourselves with the renewed prospects of Turkey’s EU membership at the very moment that concerns regarding the backsliding of these issues have reached their height.
To top it all you have used taxpayers’ money to effectively bribe Turkey into accepting your disastrous asylum policy. That the EU is willing to consider even opening up negotiations on the future accession of Turkey underlines how you are carrying on with business as usual, whilst doing an excellent impression of an ostrich with its head in the sand.
Last week the Dutch effectively rejected EU expansion in their own referendum and, as British public support for Brexit increases, polls in Denmark show that, if the UK leaves, a majority of Danish people will want likewise. All this at the very time of the ongoing crisis over the eurozone, the Schengen area and migration. Further enlargement of the EU is a threat to my country, so accordingly the only way to ensure British security is to vote to leave on 23 June."@en1
