lpv:spoken text	"I welcome this report’s reaffirmation that human rights and democracy must be at the core of the EU’s strategy in Central Asia, and I share the regret expressed at the overall lack of progress being made in the region. I would like to use this opportunity to raise the censorship and lack of freedom of expression in Kazakhstan, and particularly that of the critical news organisation Respublika that is currently suffering from persecution. The Kazakh government is pursuing law suits in the US to try to force American companies to shut down Respublika’s servers, which also raises great concern about internet freedoms more generally. The EU must take a stand to pressure Kazakh authorities to stop this kind of abuse, and condition further cooperation on upholding human rights norms."@en1
