"Enhancing dialogue about the European Union and its institutions in schools would be an innovative method for educating citizens on the European political process. Greater education on the EU would encourage EU citizens to engage with the EU institutions more frequently and simultaneously combat Euro-scepticism. Rapporteur Drăghici notes that 44% of European citizens feel that they have limited understanding of how the EU works and 52% of Europeans believe that their voice does not count in the EU. The benefits would be manifold if schools within the Union were to disseminate information regarding the functioning of EU institutions and their competences. This initiative would also help to celebrate the cultural and linguistic diversity of the EU, which, in turn would help to resolve several challenges which it faces, and for these reasons I support the motion."@en1
