"This report contained some positive provisions specifically regarding the positive and proactive role that the EU can play in everyday life. However, it does not encourage critical engagement or thinking within the EU. This is absolutely crucial for any well rounded and robust learning programme.
It is not simply good enough to blindly accept the authority of the EU project without it being subject to greater scrutiny and debate. If the introduction of an EU dimension into school education is being introduced, then a wider array of views must be taught to school goers than the simple assertion of the immutability of the status quo. That mind set serves no-one and it was for these reasons that I abstained on the report."@en1
