"I abstained on this report as while the objectives and intentions on this report were very positive; any positive provisions were undone by a negative agenda running throughout the text.
Let me be clear, there is no party more committed to protecting Irish sovereignty than Sinn Féin. In my role as an MEP in the European Parliament, I am continuously seeking to ensure that the interests of the Irish people are placed at the forefront of any EU policy. It goes without saying that principle of subsidiarity must represent the starting point for policy formulation.
However, the negative provisions in relation to EU trade policy and the ISDS, means that I was left in no position but to abstain on this report."@en1
