"Greenland, covered under the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, is economically dependent on its fishery sector. The consequences of climate and environment issues must be recognised and fishing opportunities must conform to relevant conservation initiatives. This Protocol aims to provide EUR 17 799 978 per year over a five-year period. This would foster cooperation between the European Union and Greenland, ensuring a sustainable fisheries policy. This agreement covers a range of marine species. The use of local labour and firms should be a condition for the provision of fishing licences."@en1
