lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, firstly may I take this opportunity – one I did not think I would have with my portfolio – to welcome the Commissioner to the Parliament? Like many people, until a month or so ago, I had never really heard of Zika. When I started to read about it I kind of assumed it was something very new and I was quite surprised to find that actually Zika has been around a long time. What is new is the rapid spread. So it is surprising that we have, in fact, so little information about how it is spreading and, indeed, so few inroads made into research, into preventing that spread, into a vaccination, etc. So I am delighted to hear that we are going to be speeding that process up. So my question really is: how will this ongoing information – we have heard about the work that is going to be done, and I am sure we will hear more – be transmitted to Parliament, and will the Commission be setting up a mechanism for regular reporting, be this via ECDC or not, to Parliament, and also to Member States, because we would very much like to be kept updated?"@en1
