"Today I voted against calls to increase the EU budget. The multiannual financial framework (MFF) for the EU budget is adequate, if properly directed, to deal with the main challenges Europe is facing. When looking at reform of the MFF, the priority should be looking at redistribution of the available budget between different areas. More needs to be done within current budget ceilings, and spending must be prioritised and redirected towards boosting sustainable growth and employment, and dealing with the refugee crisis. There are many examples of money well spent in the EU budget – the European Research Council, for example, helps us to maintain our position as a world leader in science in research. The European Fund for Strategic Investments also holds great promise and is being used in the UK to boost investment in key energy infrastructure."@en1
