Gender mainstreaming is one of the great policy innovations of the European Union, and it seeks to include a gender perspective in policy-making at all levels, and also ensure that women, and persons of all gender identities, are equally represented in decision-making. As a co-legislator of European laws, effective gender mainstreaming in the European Parliament is key."@en1
