"I voted against the report. The report tells us that corruption in the EEA is in the region of €120 billion. The same report says that the fraudulent use of UK taxpayers’ money is ‘often linked to insufficient knowledge of complex rules and requirements’. Most interestingly with regard to what the EU refers to as ‘own resources’, which is another phrase for ‘what UK citizens pay via VAT’, fraud has increased 191% between 2013 and 2014. The European Ombudsman in the report tells us that the ‘European Commission’s credibility and seriousness have been endangered’ as it does not follow its own suggested guidelines.
This report also calls for the implementation of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. I am vehemently opposed to the EPPO as I am not in favour of the EU having a ‘justice system’ that would stand above the UK justice system."@en1
