"I have joined my Labour colleagues in voting against the Parliament’s Port Services Report because I believe that, hitherto, the Commission’s approach has failed to acknowledge the complexity and diversity of the EU’s ports sector and is applying a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach instead. Parliament has managed to secure some improvements, albeit limited, to the Commission’s proposal, but the draft legislation still remains unsophisticated and has very little added-value for port operators, workers and users.
It is for this reason that I have voted against the Parliament’s Port Services Reportk, and I will continue working with UK ports and unions to oppose this regulation."@en1
