"I voted in favour of the report in order to highlight the positive contribution of the EU and the CAP to the development of healthy eating habits among children and the promotion of sustainable local agricultural products. The current schemes benefit nearly 30 million children per year across the EU and their funding has been increased to EUR 150 million a year (2014-2020). In 2012-13, the UK received GBP 3.3 million worth of EU aid for the milk scheme, supplemented by GBP 0.9 million of national subsidy. Such a breakdown of funding illustrates a significant overall benefit of the scheme for the UK taxpayer."@en1
