lpv:spoken text	"I supported this report because it represents a significant step forward in European law and policy-making with regard to animals. This new Animal Health Law puts the welfare of animals at the forefront of policy-making by introducing robust measures to tackle transmissible animal diseases which endanger animal welfare and pose health risks to humans. The report also contains a set of provisions that lay out methods for dealing with stray animals in a humane manner. There has been widespread demand from citizens for higher standards and codification in the area of animal treatment. I am therefore happy to see this report being brought forward to address these concerns. This shows the EU responding properly to the concerns of its citizens. In sum, the new Animal Health Law is a great example of the EU delivering on a matter of direct importance to the EU citizens through the improvement and codification of animal welfare standards."@en1
