"I supported this report, which represents a positive contribution by the EU to the health and welfare of animals. The new law will introduce robust measures to tackle transmissible animal diseases which endanger animal welfare and pose health risks to humans. The new law also contains a set of provisions that will be useful for dealing with stray animals in a humane manner. Along with my EPLP colleagues, I am proud to support this excellent new safeguard to animal welfare."@en1
