"This regulation replaces over 40 outdated and inconsistent pieces of EU legislation. Whilst that could be useful, I voted against it on the grounds that the policy implications are hard to predict at this stage, particularly with regard to the secondary legislation that could result.
I also do not accept that the Commission should be given the sole legal right to draw up a list of animal diseases which pose a risk to animal or public health, whereas the UK’s national experts are excluded from that process."@en1
