"Madam President, no one chooses to be a refugee and no one aspires to be an asylum-seeker. No woman sets out on a journey that could lead to what is – for me – the most poignant and appalling outcome I have seen, that is, women having to separate from their children due to illness or violence. The immense suffering of women refugees is abundantly clear. We have a duty to protect them from violence and rape and to provide health care and sustenance. However, this report goes too far in some areas, particularly finance and legal aid. My delegation, the British Conservatives, will be supporting the EPP resolution as this recognises the competences of this committee and of Parliament. But I want to make it clear that we appreciate Mrs Honeyball’s work. We understand the sentiments, we understand the political thrust and support behind her report, and we will not vote against it."@en1
