"Madam President, following January’s debate on British citizens and other nationals imprisoned in India, including my constituent Nick Dunn, their bail application has not been granted while they wait for an appeal hearing. If – and it is a big if – there was any wrongdoing, then surely the company should be held liable, not individual contractors who found themselves simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. These men are highly qualified security guards who were doing a valuable public protection job, and I have seen those qualifications. I have here copies of the export licenses which show that the firearms were legally exported and that this was done within the timescales. I have nothing but respect for the Indian Government’s fight against illegal firearms, but in this case they simply have the wrong people. So I call on the Indian Government to urgently review this case and to secure the immediate release of my constituent."@en1
