"Madam President, Tilbury Docks, in my constituency, is linked to one in ten jobs within Thurrock. The success of those jobs relies on the success of the port. At DP World within Thurrock Borough, trade is growing, and this would be the worst possible time to put more regulations on them, especially as trade is growing with the rest of the world outside the EU.
This is a case in point with our referendum coming up: why should EU rules affect non—EU trade that has absolutely nothing to do with the European Union? We will be opposing it for those reasons. The best people to govern our ports are the people that should govern our laws – the British people themselves."@en1
