"I voted in favour of this resolution in order to express my deep concern and dismay at the humanitarian situation in Yemen. The international community must act to bring an end to the hostilities there, where those who pay the heaviest price, as always, are those who are most vulnerable. I have been in contact with an Ogadeni journalist who has been trapped in Saana for many months and have learnt from him directly of the suffering of innocent victims.
No European Union Member State should ever sell or be complicit in the sale of weapons and military hardware which contribute to committing atrocities and to targeting civilians. This is why I support the resolution’s call for an arms embargo on Saudi Arabia and hope that Member States’ governments, particularly my own, will heed our call."@en1
