lpv:spoken text	"I support this resolution calling for a traceability system for the movement of pet animals within and into the European Union. We still need to await the outcome of the Commission study into the welfare of dogs and cats in commercial practices to come to full conclusions, but it is clear there are significant public and animal health risks arising from commercial practices concerning these animals. I know from my work with the dogs trust in the West Midlands that they are increasingly having to deal with the fall-out of unhealthy and often emotionally disturbed animals being imported into the UK. This situation is only likely to get worse unless we take action to tackle the illicit movement of pet animals across the EU."@en1
