"I voted for this report because it fully supports the fact that the Ombudsman is making greater use of the power to open strategic investigations on its own initiative. In 2014 the Ombudsman opened 325 inquiries on the basis of complaints as well as 17 own-initiative inquiries and it closed 387 complaints-based inquiries as well as 13 own-initiative inquiries. The main sources of complaints were individual citizens (335) and companies, associations and other legal entities (52)."@en1
