"Trade policy must always put people and planet before narrow profit-making, as per the Alternative Trade Mandate. Strengthening economic ties and stimulating business in the EU’s relationship with Tunisia is hugely important, but it must also be accompanied with a human element.
The economic benefit from a trade deal with Tunisia should be shown to benefit Tunisian citizens and consumers, as well as those most vulnerable in society. Cultural exchange must also follow, creating true dialogue between EU Member States and Tunisia, strengthening civil society engagement and paving the way for collaboration in a number of fields such as cultural and social entrepreneurship."@en1
