"I am proud to have been involved in the technical trialogues between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission. I do not think it would be too grandiose to suggest that this reform – which is indeed quite technical – might be a microcosm of the European Union as a whole: through collaboration, consensus and respect between everyone involved. Social partnership was easily weaved throughout the legislation and we have really created a better and more effective EURES network and portal. I believe that we have created an instrument that will improve the lives of job-seekers across Europe, and especially for job-seekers in the West Midlands. At the moment, the EURES instrument simply does not work and the distribution of jobs is far from proportionate, with the UK offering far more than most other countries, which makes for a raw deal for our job-seekers. This revision to EURES will make sure that more jobs will be available in more locations and automatically match CVs with appropriate vacancies."@en1
