"I abstained on this report as I had some reservations about it, but did not want to block the progressive content. ‘EURES’ is a network designed to facilitate the free movement of workers within the EU-28 countries + EEA countries. The reform of EURES aims to enhance labour mobility in the EU by making it easier for workers to access information about job vacancies and information about the various Member State systems, and by making it easier for employers to recruit from all Member States. The report I voted on was an improvement on the Commission’s proposal, which focused on promoting market access for private employment services and mobility as a solution to unemployment. However, the regulation is still part of the Commission’s mobility agenda which, in my view, primarily aims to create an integrated labour market in order to increase employers’ access to cheaper labour, which is why I could not fully support the report and abstained."@en1
