"I voted in favour of the adoption of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with Kosovo. Apart from enhancing political dialogue and opening new forms of cooperation, the Agreement will create opportunities to enhance contact between people, which is no less essential to the bringing down of barriers than cooperation between experts and governments.
Citizens and civil society must be included in the process of implementation of the Agreement, and citizens must be informed about the process in a transparent manner.
I deeply believe that more consideration must be given to the power of civil society to pursue inter-cultural exchange, people-to-people dialogue, and initiatives bringing together citizens from EU Member States and Kosovo. The EU can be a key player in this kind of exchange: able to share, support and develop best practice, particularly in respect of young people.
Kosovan youth are the promise of its future: they are the ones who stand to gain from the ongoing dialogue. A young generation of Kosovars have grown up with a European vision. They must not be let down."@en1
