To achieve this, I am also committed to protecting the EU Nature Directives and I will work to ensure that the fitness check is not used as an excuse to water down or weaken the legislation. Therefore I was happy to vote in favour of the Environment Committee’s report on the Mid-term Review of the EU’s Biodiversity Strategy. I believe this report upholds the integrity of the EU Nature Directives. The biodiversity of Wales is far too precious to the people of Wales to be risked."@en1
