"Mr President, we have just had a debate on undeclared work, better known as the black economy. The irony of the debate was rich. We had the EU discussing why people choose to work outside of the normal rules and regulations when many of the rules and regulations, the anti-competitive things that cause problems, have come from the EU. We have the British Conservatives, and one of my local colleagues from the British Conservatives, saying: ‘what a great thing this is, this shows how good the EU is, because it is not enforceable.’ So you might as well not be in it anyway.
We have got the British Labour Party, another one from the West Midlands where I am from, saying: ‘this is what we should be talking about: competitiveness. We will teach you all a lesson in competitiveness.’ The British Labour Party that virtually destroyed our country’s economy, discussing competitiveness. The irony of it is so rich; just as with so many other things in this place, you just could not make it up."@en1
