"As far as I understand, a French court has asked for the immunity of Florian Philippot MEP to be waived for the purposes of criminal proceedings instituted by a country outside the EU, namely Qatar, which accuses the politician of having defamed the country, claiming that Qatar finances terrorism. While I may not agree with a lot of what Mr Philippot and his party believe, it is important that MEPs be allowed to express their opinions. Both from a moral and legal stand point, the conditions for the waiver are not met."@en1
