"The Polish Constitution grants immunity to parliamentarians for speeding when driving, which is why a vote must be performed in order to allow Mr Iwaszkeiwicz to be brought to justice over a traffic infraction that he made in September 2014. Mr Iwaszkiewicz had admitted that he was driving the vehicle in June 2015, but argued for the annulment of the fine on the ground that the offence took place while performing parliamentary work – going to Brussels to attend a meeting of the European Parliament. From the circumstances of the case it appears that the alleged offence and the ensuing prosecution clearly have nothing to do with the position of Mr Iwaszkiewicz as a Member of the European Parliament."@en1
