lpv:spoken text	"Madam President, there are many thousands of cable cars operating in Europe today. It is vital that they are safe and that the public has full confidence in their safety. This new regulation will help ensure up-to-date and strengthened design and construction standards for the future of cable car transport, including in sporting and urban settings. As the lead member for this measure for the Socialists and Democrats, I warmly welcome the new rules and the fact that they were overwhelmingly adopted by this Parliament. I also welcome the extensive work that has been undertaken to achieve this improvement in cable car regulation, and especially to put in place clearer drafting and a tougher penalties regime to prevent and to deal with breaches of the law."@en1
