"I supported this resolution to update the existing personal protective equipment (PPE) legislation. This revision is in line with the New Legislative Framework (NLF) which is a package of measures designed to streamline and simplify the regulation of goods across the Single Market. Given that this proposal deals primarily with the modernisation and simplification of an already well-functioning system, this update correctly focuses on some concerns expressed by Member States. In particular, it now requires importers and distributors to inform the manufacturer, as well as Market Surveillance Authorities MSA, where they believe there is a risk of non-conforming PPE. Furthermore, it will require Member States to notify manufacturers if a notified body has ceased activity and requires any appeal procedure to be transparent and accessible."@en1
