"In order to protect the rights of workers in the new online economy I voted in favour of this report calling for everyone to have a right of access to the internet and to be able to use online services without discrimination. The Commission's proposal rests on three pillars: Firstly, 'better access for consumers and businesses across Europe to digital services'; Secondly, the creation of 'the right conditions and a level playing field for advanced digital networks and innovative services'; and thirdly, the maximisation of the growth potential of the digital economy. I was especially glad to see that the Socialists and Democrats Group were able to have those involved in the parcel delivery and logistics sector included in the text as well as recognition of the rights of those working in the new and growing sharing economy. We need better provisions for data protection and proper investment in the infrastructure of the digital economy."@en1
