"I was happy to vote with my Labour colleagues in supporting this report. Youth unemployment and the issues surrounding young people who are neither in education nor training are factors across the EU. Therefore, it is useful that Parliament is helping to develop a strategy to combat youth unemployment with this document. Labour MEPs supported this report as it is critical that young people have access to the required skilled in today’s labour market. However, the UK Government needs to boost jobs, growth and investment to ensure that there are quality jobs for young people. This report’s stress on identifying key skills that will be needed in the current and future market is highly important, as is its emphasis on the need for high—quality apprentices."@en1
