"The European Union faces diverging opinions on notions of identity and belonging. Intercultural dialogue should have a larger role in education, as was suggested by the Paris Declaration of 17 March 2015. Intercultural dialogue and education can provide for a more pluralistic, tolerant society with an emphasis on equality between citizens and a respect for human rights. Culture should be recognised as a tool in peace-building and conflict resolution. Civic education, provided from an early age, would help young people take part in a more democratic society. The promotion of intercultural dialogue would engage individuals suffering from marginalisation, geographic or social isolation. NGOs, youth organisations and training institutions should be provided with structural assistance to help in this cultural exchange."@en1
