"Mr President, while we were discussing this yesterday Mr Farage raised an issue which had nothing to do with this report but which concerned the issue of sea bass and the measures taken to protect sea bass, with which he was dissatisfied, and he launched a tirade against the Commission. Yet I would have thought that somebody who had been a Member of this Parliament for so many years would know a little bit about how decisions are taken in this European Union. The Commission merely made a proposal on this. It was the elected Ministers of the national governments of the Member States who took the decision to which he objected, including the British Conservative Minister, Mr George Eustice, but rather than turning his fire on those responsible for the decision, he twists it and turns it into an attack on the Commission, displaying either his ignorance or his cynicism in trying to use this as an issue in the forthcoming British referendum. It is a deplorable way of behaving."@en1
