lpv:spoken text	"I voted in favour of this resolution today because this is an incredibly stunning area of the world and I want to see it preserved and maintained for generations. The EU is one of the largest contributors to the park, and this pays testament to our desire to see this area preserved. While the DRC Government does have laws which prohibit environmentally harmful activities in protected areas like the Virunga national park, the granting of oil concessions to SOCO International is a source of consternation. There are suggestions that the borders of the national park may be changed in order to accommodate for the oil drilling operations to circumvent the laws which otherwise prevent this from happening. This resolution calls on the Commission, Member States and the oil companies who may be interested in exploring for oil in this area to voice their support for the current borders so as to minimise the damage to the environment here."@en1
