Therefore I backed a resolution calling on Hungary to remember its position in the EU in regard to Human Rights and particularly with regard to its responsibilities for the humane treatment of refugees. All Member States are required to comply fully with EU rules and all legislation must be compatible with this overarching framework – it is concerning that some legislation in Hungary that has recently gone through may fall short of these standards. We in the Parliament have frequently called the Council’s attention to this issue and believe that the Commission and the Council are undermining the principle of mutual and sincere cooperation by not moving to meet these concerns. The Commission must continue its investigations and use all of its tools to solve this problem."@en1
