"While, there were many positive provisions contained within this report, I was unable to vote in favour of this report. The dossier called for further involvement of the private sector, businesses and public-private partnerships in disaster management, humanitarian action and national emergency plans. It is patently obvious that the private sector should have no such involvement and that any such involvement would serve only to commercialise humanitarian crises to the detriment of those who have been adversely affected. Positive aspects of the report included calling for matters such as population increase, urbanisation, climate change, gender equality and migration to be taken into account in humanitarian action. Moreover, international commitment to reach the target of 0.7% ODA/GNI, and reducing the militaristic tone of the draft report were reflected in the compromises, which was welcome. However, due to the calling for involvement of the private sector, I had no choice but to abstain on this report."@en1
